Have you been driving on a desert highway and noticed how the far away scene seems to moving slow while the scene right next to your car is moving fast? that is weird since both scenes are moving at the same speed from you.

The reason for this is related to how your eyes and brain see the world. How big something is and how fast it is moving in your field of vision depends on the angle the light goes into your eye.
